A “person of interest” is in custody in connection with the sucker punch attack that injured actor Steve Buscemi on Third Avenue in Manhattan last week, the New York Police Department said.
The 66-year-old former “Boardwalk Empire” and “Sopranos” star suffered a black eye and a bleeding wound in the May 8 ambush, police said.
They had previously identified 50-year-old Clifton Williams as a suspect in the case, but did not confirm Friday that he was the one arrested.
“There is one person of interest in custody at this time,” an NYPD spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
Police sources said that while Buscemi was being treated at a hospital, Williams fled Manhattan in a changed condition.

The attack occurred around noon on May 8th. A man in blue approached and punched him in the face, causing the actor’s left eye to swell and bleed.
