Texas High School Student Allegedly Kidnapped by Homeless Man

A homeless man was apprehended outside a Texas high school under suspicions of injecting students with an unidentified substance and attempting to abduct them, as reported by the prosecutor.

This troubling situation unfolded on October 1 when staff at Aldine High School noticed a student who seemed “stumbling and walking unbalanced” in a nearby shopping center, according to a school district statement.

One staff member alerted the police, who quickly detained the man behaving suspiciously and approaching the students. Reports suggest that one staff member recorded the incident, capturing the man trying to pull the student away.

The student was found unresponsive but later regained consciousness after receiving medical assistance. He informed the police that the man had injected him with an unknown substance.

The suspect, identified as Ted Fleming, faces charges including kidnapping, failing to register as a sex offender, and unauthorized entry on school grounds. His criminal record is extensive, featuring at least 38 prior arrests for various offenses, including deadly battery and lewd acts.

According to the victim’s attorney, there were concerns that the student narrowly escaped from a much worse outcome. “This is the first time I’ve seen or heard of someone actually getting the shot,” Andy Kahan remarked. “Had he complied and been kidnapped, who knows what could have happened?”

A booking photo of Fleming showed him smiling after the arrest.

Aldine ISD Police stated they would enhance patrols around Aldine High School, emphasizing that the safety of students and staff remains their utmost priority.

During the hearing, prosecutors requested bail be set at $250,000, citing Fleming’s history. However, the judge ultimately set it at $150,000, following a request from the public defender for a significantly lower bail amount.
