Surveillance camera footage shows a brutal robbery in downtown Los Angeles in which a man wearing a Rolex watch is beaten unconscious and robbed by another man.
Police arrested Pablo Garcia, 25, of Los Angeles, on suspicion of a robbery that occurred on April 28, 2024, in the 800 block of East 1st Street. A video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows the victim being punched in the head multiple times by her assailant.
“The suspect reached for the victim’s Rolex watch and brutally assaulted the victim until she lost consciousness,” a Los Angeles Police Department official said. “The suspect removed the victim’s Rolex watch and fled the scene.”
The video shows a man wearing a red shirt and black pants entering the building and making his way to the elevator. The suspect follows closely behind, wearing a black and white hoodie and black pants.

A man wearing a hoodie appears to be sneaking up behind the victim and trying to reach for a watch on the victim’s left wrist. When the startled man turned around, the assailant’s sucker punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.
The victim’s sunglasses and other personal items can be seen flying across the floor as the victim hits the tile floor.
The video shows the suspect attempting to remove the watch from the victim’s wrist as the injured man lies on the ground. When the victim became upset, the suspect struck him in the head several more times until the victim appeared unconscious.
The suspect then fled the scene with the Rolex watch.

Police said the victim was treated for his injuries.
On May 14, police located the suspect, identified as Garcia, in Downey, California. He was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.

Garcia was charged with robbery and is currently being held on $450,000 bail.
The Los Angeles Police Department said investigators strongly believe there are other unreported victims that Garcia robbed. Police released a photo of Garcia and asked potential victims to come forward and speak with investigators.

The Los Angeles Police Department is also appealing to the public for help in recovering the victim’s watch.
