Man with two knives captured on police bodycam video jumping from a window, charging at an officer, and stabbing him.

Earlier this month, police in Amherst, New York, responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic violence incident on North Bailey Avenue. Amherst is situated about 20 minutes northeast of Buffalo.

On Thursday, police released body cam footage showing events that unfolded after officers arrived at the home on July 12 at around 5 p.m.

The video depicts an officer tending to wounds on the suspect, while another officer can be seen bleeding from his left arm.

In one part of the video, a man leaps through a window from the back of the house.

Additionally, there’s mention of a woman charged with stabbing a 29-year-old paramedic during the incident.

The footage reveals a man rushing towards the officers, brandishing a knife in each hand. The police chief stated that the suspect confronted the officers within just two seconds.

Authorities indicated that 26-year-old Raekel M. Grant had stabbed Officer Aidan Vangeloff twice.

During the incident, Vangelov and another officer, Matthew Robglio, fired at Grant. They reported that a Taser was deployed first, but it didn’t connect.

Officer Vangelov received treatment for his stab wound at the Erie County Medical Center, while Grant was also taken there due to gunshot wounds to his chest and arm.

According to Erie County District Attorney Mike Keene, after a thorough review, it was concluded that the officers’ actions were justified, and those who fired shots leading to the suspect’s injuries would not face criminal charges.

Grant now faces charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault in connection with this incident. He had been wanted after failing to appear for an earlier domestic violence-related case.

Currently, Grant is in custody without bail, and if convicted, he could face a significant prison sentence.
