Manhattan banker arrested for alleged assault at Pride event

A man accused of punching a woman in the face during a Pride and anti-Israel event turned himself in to police on Monday, authorities said.

Video footage posted to social media allegedly shows suspect Jonathan Kaye, 52, punching a woman and throwing her to the sidewalk as he flees the scene after the Brooklyn Pride event on June 8.

He was arrested and charged with second- and third-degree assault, according to the NYPD. A spokesperson for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office told Fox News Digital that Kaye turned himself in to police.

The woman, who gave her name only as “Mika P.”, told NBC New York that the blow broke her nose in four places.

“When we saw him walk past, we immediately looked at each other and said, ‘Don’t get involved with that guy. He looks drunk or crazy,'” she told the news outlet. “He looked very angry as he walked past.”

Kaye reportedly called them “useful idiots” and continued walking around the block until they asked him what he had said.

He then turned and began walking towards the victim, who said she began throwing water at Kay, causing gasps from bystanders.

A source told Fox News Digital that a group of protesters became violent after Kaye, who is Jewish, said they were “on the wrong side” of anti-Israel protests.

Four people from a group that sources called “Queer for Palestine” or “Transgender for Palestine” reportedly surrounded Kaye after he spoke.

The source said officers began pouring “red liquid” over the officer as he tried to back away, and photos of the officer’s uniform showed stains and a bloody wound on his leg.

Officials said Kay fell to the ground with blood coming from her leg.

“He’s a man who works an honorable job and has no violent or criminal history in his life,” the source said. “In his mind, he was doing what his body was telling him to do to get out of there.”

At the time of the alleged assault, Mr. Kaye was working at Moelis & Company, a Manhattan investment bank, where he was a managing director.
