A mannequin fell onto the road course during a bizarre IndyCar Series race Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
Alex Palou was leading the race when the NBC Sports broadcast team noticed a mannequin near the racetrack around lap 52. The station explained that the mannequin named Georgina is part of the art piece that is part of the park.

The mannequin fell from a sidewalk overhang overlooking the railroad tracks. A driver ran him over the wrist as he sped past.
One broadcaster said: “Add this to the list of things you can’t see at a racetrack.”
No immediate warning was issued for the mannequin and the race continued. The object was just one of the strange things around the park. The road course also featured spider sculptures as drivers negotiate corners.

Scott McLaughlin won the race, marking his second consecutive win at Barber Motorsports Park. Team Penske drivers have also been successful in silencing the noise around the race team since the beginning of the week. IndyCar robbed Josef Newgarden of his season-opening win and McLaughlin was disqualified for manipulating the push-to-pass system.
“I definitely got a little emotional,” McLaughlin said. “It was really good. It was a great cap because obviously it’s been a pretty tough week.”
Will Power took second place. Linus Lundqvist, Felix Rosenqvist and Palou rounded out the top five. Newgarden finished 16th.

“We just had to keep moving,” McLaughlin added. “We know our job. We know what we have to do. I’m very proud of our execution.”
