Many Americans Disagree with Amnesty for Unauthorized Immigrants and Support Trump's Deportation Plan

Poll Results on Immigration Policies

Recent polling data from Tea Party’s Patriot Action indicates strong opposition to pardoning illegal aliens. Notably, many Americans appear to back President Donald Trump’s deportation strategy.

A poll by McLaughlin & Associates, shared exclusively with Breitbart News, shows that about 77% of American voters believe pardoning illegal aliens is unjust.

In contrast, fewer than 13% expressed opposition to the notion of amnesty, while approximately 11% were unsure about their stance.

There’s a nearly unanimous agreement among Republicans—86% see pardons for illegal aliens as unfair to those immigrants who are here legally. Interestingly, 71% of swing voters and Democrats also echoed this sentiment.

“Pardoning illegal aliens is unjust, unsafe, and overwhelmingly unpopular,” stated Jenny Beth Martin, chair of Tea Party Patriots Action, in her comments to Breitbart News.

Consequences of illegal immigration:

The poll further revealed consistent backing for Trump’s approach to deportation, which targets all illegal immigrants, rather than just those who are convicted or accused of crimes.

Around 56% of respondents agreed with the idea that everyone who entered the country illegally should face deportation, regardless of their employment status or any criminal allegations. On the other hand, 34% did not agree.

Similar to views on amnesty, a solid majority of Republicans—79%—favor deporting all illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. Most swing voters also support this; however, only 33% of Democrats back the deportation of those without a criminal record or accusations against them.

Martin emphasized the need for Congress and the administration to closely monitor public sentiment while attempting to address the issues stemming from the previous administration’s “open border” policies.

Furthermore, the majority of Americans seem to agree on the necessity of demonstrating U.S. citizenship and identification during elections. The polls reveal that roughly 83% of voters believe evidence of citizenship should be required on ballots, including 92% of Republicans, 82% of swing voters, and 73% of Democrats.

About 79% of voters also think that identification should be provided when voting, whether it’s by mail, abroad, or through absentee ballots. This includes 89% of Republicans, 76% of swing voters, and 70% of Democrats.

The poll, which surveyed 1,000 general election voters, was conducted on July 15th and has a margin of error of +/- 3.1%.
