Mara Macy joins Breitbart News Saturday show on SiriusXM, days after host Matt Boyle qualified for the ballot in a challenge to Rep. John Rutherford (R-Fla.), which he declared “could be the No. 1 race in the nation.” .
Macy, who officially qualified for the race just days before appearing on the show, said her husband’s battle with the Department of Defense over military vaccination requirements in 2021 led her to learn about Rutherford. “We were in a situation where we were fighting the Department of Defense and litigating with the Department of Defense over the gun requirement,” she said. “And the first thing we found out was that there were four other families in his district who reached out to him to find a way to pursue the illegality of what the Department of Defense was doing. Two of the families had no response at all, and the other two were told, “We’re sorry, but there’s nothing we can do.”
“So that was the first time John caught my interest.”
The more she looked into Rutherford’s records, the more concerned she became. “When he starts to get into politics, he realizes that he’s just part of the one-party faction, and he votes for all the big money going overseas. He votes against the Constitution. He supported red flag laws at one point. This is coming from a sheriff, a former sheriff. So law enforcement doesn’t really want to follow the Constitution, especially as a sheriff. When you have a sheriff who doesn’t have any, you have a problem. I mean, he’s basically voted against every conservative we support.”
Mr. Boyle detailed Mr. Rutherford’s voting record, noting that in recent months, Mr. Rutherford has voted for two massive government funding omnibus bills, warrantless surveillance of Americans, and tens of billions of dollars in foreign aid to Ukraine. . While the congressman was understandably slammed by voters on his social media accounts, one man stood out for his staunch defense of Rutherford: Charles Wilson.
“It turns out Charles Wilson is John Rutherford’s campaign treasurer in Congress,” Boyle said. “So out of all the voters, the only people defending this guy in Facebook comments on the congressman’s own Facebook page are campaign treasurers who are literally being paid to support him.”
Mr. Macy said Mr. Rutherford’s supporters exist, but they are not the people you would expect. “I think there’s been a little bit of a growing group supporting him over the last few votes, and they’re Democrats. They’re legitimate. Of course, they’re saying, ‘Thank you so much for your vote last time.’ If the person saying it turns out to be a liberal, you’ll need someone who’s an alleged Republican to come to your defense.
She continued: “I think that’s what he’s doing and it’s kind of pathetic. I have supporters online who try to comment on people’s posts and ask for support for me. But the difference is, the people who support me aren’t being paid… They’re doing it in a position that represents them. That’s the reward for someone in the position.”
Macy blasted Rutherford and Wilson, using platitudes to justify Rutherford’s unpopular vote in the northeast Florida district. . Mr. Boyle discussed Mr. Rutherford’s retreat from the previous Republican position that Congress must secure the border before addressing the Ukraine border issue. “People were very supportive of it, and then for some reason all of a sudden things changed and John Rutherford just went along with it. He doesn’t really care about border security,” he said. Ta.
He also told the tragic story of a district in St. Augustine where a decorated law enforcement officer was killed by an illegal alien. Boyle told how charges against a foreign national were dropped because he could not understand the police’s instructions in English. “It’s already happening. We’re seeing a family of angels here. This is a big part of the presidential election, and as a national story, we’re seeing the Laken Riley case in Georgia. But these stories are happening everywhere, including here in John Rutherford’s district.”
Boyle told Macy. “I think this race is the No. 1 race in the country because I think it’s the best opportunity for conservatives, grassroots conservatives, to take power out of the swamp…If John Rutherford is ousted and Mara Macy If “If I Fall Down, I Think” is elected to Congress, it will send a massive message to the losers in Washington that they need to start listening to people like us. ”
Macy touted the momentum of her fundraising efforts and recruitment of volunteers, which only increased as she campaigned in the district and more voters learned of Rutherford’s appalling record.
“For the past week and a half after these votes, he’s been essentially fundraising for me. He says he’s looking for volunteers. They’re coming in so fast that I can’t organize them at the moment. I’m like, oh, wait a minute. I’m doing so much that I need some time.”
Florida’s primary election will be held on August 20th.
