Margate mayor offers to buy Kylie, Jason Kelce dinner after viral video

Margate, New Jersey, Mayor Michael Collins is trying to make amends with the women who protested against Kylie and Jason Kelsey outside a restaurant on the Jersey shore this week.

Collins was speaking publicly for the first time about the controversy, which alleges that an unidentified woman aggressively approached Kylie, trying to take a photo with her outside Steve & Cookies by the Sea while she was on a date, and became infuriated when she politely declined.

“On behalf of the City of Margate, I would like to formally apologise to Jason and Kylie Kelsey for the experience they experienced in Margate over the holiday weekend.” Collins said in a statement. On Wednesday he wrote, “As a father of young children, I know better than anyone how important a date night with your wife is, so I’d love to go on another date and treat you to dinner.”

The short, eight-second video that went viral on social media on Tuesday was posted by the “Word to the Wise” podcast and shows Kylie Kelsey getting into an argument with a woman on Saturday, in which the woman threatens to “never let” the couple “come to town again.”

“I can smell alcohol on your breath. How embarrassing,” Kylie can be heard saying before the video cuts.

New details about Saturday’s encounter emerged from PhillyChitChat, which say the woman approached the Kelses while they were in their car and tried to get their attention by banging on their truck.

But the incident wasn’t enough to ruin the night for the former Eagles center and his wife.

“People have told me the couple had a lovely evening laughing and enjoying their meal,” PhillyChitchat wrote. “Several people passed by their table to say hello, but the only person who stopped by was Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, though I haven’t been able to double-check if he was there.”

Neither Jason nor Kylie Kelce have spoken publicly about the incident, but the former NFL star may address it on an upcoming episode of the “New Heights Podcast,” which he co-hosts with his brother Travis.
