Tragic Accident Claims Lives of New Jersey Teens
Two New Jersey teenagers, Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, were cherished as ambitious Greek-Americans who aspired to enter the beauty industry. They were also known for their remarkable singing talent, often described as having “angel voices.”
Sadly, the 17-year-olds suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a black jeep on Cranford Street while riding an electric bike on Monday night.
Maria Niotis, originally from Rhodes, Greece, had spent most of her life in New Jersey. According to her obituary, she was a student at Cranford High School and is survived by her twin siblings.
Her family shared that she aimed to graduate high school and pursue a career in beauty.
Isabella Salas, a lifelong resident of Cranford, was also a student at a local high school. She participated in various extracurricular activities, including the choir, an acapella group, and the Cranford Dramatic Club Theatre.
Friends and family of both girls spoke highly of them. A relative of Salas emphasized her exceptional singing talent, noting, “She was very talented with an angel voice,” and expressed deep love and admiration for her character.
In a tragic turn of events, a 17-year-old driver has been charged with murder, accused of stalking Niotis for several months leading up to the incident. Families of the girls released a joint statement alleging that the driver had “plotted this attack” over an extended period. Given that the case is in juvenile court, the driver’s identity remains undisclosed.
This heartbreaking loss has shocked the community, leaving friends and family in mourning.
