Mariah Carey's mother and sister died on the same day over the weekend, People magazine reported.
Carrie released a statement to the outlet confirming the tragic news.
“My heart is broken after losing my mum last weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister also passed away on the same day.” she told the media..

“I am blessed to have been able to spend my mother's final week with me before she passed away,” Carey added. “I thank everyone for their love, support and for respecting our privacy during this difficult time.”
Carey declined to provide further details about her family's deaths to the outlet, and a representative for Carey did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Mariah spoke about her relationship with her mother in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.”
“Like many aspects of my life, my journey with motherhood has been full of contradictions and competing realities. It was never simply black or white, it was a rainbow of emotions,” she wrote in People magazine.

Carey described her relationship with her mother as a “complicated love” and dedicated a portion of her memoir to Patricia.
“And to my mom, Pat, I believe you truly did the best you could through all of this,” Carrie wrote. “I will always give you all the love I can.”
