Marie Osmond said Wednesday that the death of her brother Wayne Osmond a week ago left a “big hole” in her heart in her first public appearance since his death.
“I'm so grateful that I was able to take a long drive just a few weeks ago to spend time with my brother Wayne,” the 65-year-old singer wrote in a lengthy Instagram post, along with a photo of him and Wayne. I wrote. Wayne. “I really felt the Spirit nudging me to go and meet him. I am so grateful that he listened to my feelings. I will forever remember the time I spent with him. I didn't know that.'' A few days after my visit, he would have a severe stroke. ”
Osmond said in a statement after his death that “it's too hard to put into words, but I'm going to do my best to honor one of the most loving men I've ever known.” He continued that he had not given any interviews or made any statements.
“There is no question that Wayne had a long and successful career as an entertainer, musician and songwriter,” she added. “But what stands out for me as his sister were the joyful, humorous moments we spent laughing together with him and the deep intellectual conversations that enlightened me. He was always a safe place for me when I needed it.”

She said Wayne was “showering” love to his wife, children and grandchildren. “That's all he ever talked about!” she wrote.
“I, too, admired his deep love and steadfast devotion to God the Father and His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ,” Osmond continued. “Throughout his life, Wayne was an honored member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was his eternal compass and he served as an inspiration to others as he testified of God’s great plan for us in this world. It was light. Listen to one of his favorite albums, The Plan, written by my brother.
“Wayne, I cannot cherish the gift God has given me more than being loved by you in this life. You are a true loving brother. I miss you so much. I will miss you.”
Wayne and Marie were among nine siblings, including Marie's famous singing partner, Donny Osmond.
Their other siblings include Var, Tom, Alan, Meryl, Jay, and Jimmy. Marie is the only female sibling.
In a statement posted on the Facebook page of Wayne's daughter Amy Osmond Cook on January 2, the Osmond family said: “Wayne Osmond, a beloved husband and father, lost his life last night to his beloved wife and five… He passed away peacefully surrounded by his children.”

“His legacy of faith, music, love and laughter has touched the lives of many people around the world.”
Marie said that if she could say anything to her brother right now, it would be this: “Wayne, I couldn't have cherished the gift God has given me more in this life than to be loved by you! You are a true loving brother and I will miss you.” I will forever testify to my great love for you with all my heart and soul! ” she added the hashtag #TillWeMeetAgain.
“I'm sure many of you understand this feeling from losing a loved one,” she wrote at the end of her post. “My thoughts and prayers are with you and those dealing with the devastating fires in California.”
The comment was flooded with well-wishes from followers, including Nancy Sinatra, who wrote: “I love you, Marie. God bless you, Marie.”

Donny Osmond also posted about Wayne on his Facebook page on January 2nd.

Donnie said: “My dear brother Wayne passed away peacefully last night after suffering a stroke. “I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to visit him in hospital before he passed away. Wayne will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. He brought so much light, laughter and love, especially to me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone.”
“I'm sure I speak for all of us as brothers when we say we're lucky to have Wayne as a brother,” he continued. “Even though we are separated in this life, we know that through the grace and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to be with Wayne forever.

In the 1970s, Donnie was part of a singing group called the Osmonds with Wayne, Alan, Meryl and Jay, before going on to achieve success on his own with Marie.
