Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told the government reform committee that the wages were “unsuitable” when federal workers heard Tuesday.
“These are not real jobs that generate federal income, by the way. They are consuming taxpayer dollars. These jobs are paid by American tax people who work in real jobs, earn real income, pay federal taxes, and pay these federal employees,” Green said at the hearing.
“Federal employees don't deserve jobs. Federal employees don't deserve salary. And these are jobs that you can be free to fire.”
Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) criticized Green by putting aside the careers of her own constituents, focusing on the number of federal workers in the Green district.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene believes it's not worthy of a job or pay because it has 6,008 members working for the federal government,” Escobar wrote. Tuesday's post X. “To Quote Her Favorite People: Sad!” on Social Platforms
Greene had urged the federal government not to privatize US postal services in response to comments from MP Raja Krishnamoorti (D-Ill.).
“These reports go beyond troubling and we respectfully request that the USPS be heard again,” he told the committee.
Krishnamoorthi previously said that postal services can “throw trillion dollar e-commerce transactions into chaos.”
Greene stubbornly advocates for layoffs of government workers through the efficiency of the government led by Elon Musk.
