Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘not acting in the best interests of President Trump’

Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) on Sunday blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for continuing to push for a resolution to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). denounced. He “is not acting in President Trump’s best interests.”

“I don’t want to predict what she will or won’t do. She’s pretty much on her own, and there’s one or two other people who have expressed support for what she’s doing. She doesn’t lead anyone,” Goode, who chairs the House Freedom Caucus, said in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday.”

“She’s not acting in President Trump’s best interest. I don’t think this is a good move six months before an election. She’s always put herself first. And you know,” , she has a personal animosity towards anyone she believes is responsible for the former chair not being in place, with the exception of the former chair, and those in the Freedom Caucus who excluded her from the Freedom Caucus. I also feel angry.”

Mr Good reiterated his criticism of Mr Johnson, saying that while he does not support Mr Johnson’s actions as speaker, he does not think now is the time to fight for the position.

“I think we should have a speaker contest in November. I don’t think Speaker Johnson will win. I don’t support the work that President Trump has done in the last six months, but I think we should hold a speaker contest in November. We must do the right thing to take back the Senate,” Good added.

Greene has long supported the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Goode, who initially supported Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Calif.) over Trump in the Republican presidential primary. has been criticized. Mr. Good has since supported Mr. Trump.

Greene filed a motion to resign a month ago to protest the chair’s handling of aid to Ukraine, government spending and the reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Republicans fear the moment she forces a vote on her resolution. Georgia Republican lawmakers announced Wednesday they will move to bring it to the floor this week.

Only two House Republicans have publicly supported her efforts, and there is less support among Senate conservatives, many of whom believe Johnson is the right person to lead the conference. I believe that today’s leadership change is political fraud.

There is considerable doubt as to whether Mr. Green will actually proceed with the motion to remove Mr. Johnson this week.

“I have no idea what she will or won’t do,” he said, adding, “I don’t think she will move forward with the motion.” The runoff for the House of Representatives will be held in November after the election. ”

“Let’s focus on expanding our House majority, taking back the Senate, and reelecting President Trump.”

The Hill asked Mr. Green for a response.
