Marjorie Taylor Greene Used Racist Trope ‘for the MAGA Crowd’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) accused her of racism during a House Oversight Hearing Committee meeting earlier this week. He said that he used a metaphor to impress the “MAGA crowd.” ”

Host Jake Tapper said: “You then called her a racist. I’d like to understand your take on this. Her targeting your eyelashes is racist in itself. Do you think so?”

Crockett said: “I think she specifically did that to me. Yes, women wear makeup, and yes, we are eyelashes, and it is said that we are meant to make ourselves beautiful.” So, that was the purpose.” But MAGA has historically done things on social media where people say, “Oh, she’s ghetto because she has black eyelashes and nails and black hair.” And to me, I thought this was her buying into that rhetoric and trying to amplify it for the MAGA crowd. So, yeah, I absolutely think she did that just to be racist towards me. ”

“Because it was directed at you, because it was an eyelash, in that sense, in your view, isn’t that kind of buying into a racist metaphor?” Tapper said. he said.

“This buys into a racist trope, but the reality is that women of all skin colors were lashes,” Crockett said.
