Mark Teixeira expresses support for ICE following the Minnesota shooting

The recent ICE shooting in Minnesota, which resulted in Renee Goode’s death, ignited significant reactions nationwide.

According to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Goode was driving when officials instructed her to exit the vehicle. Noem claimed Goode refused to comply and “attempted to hit them with his car.”

Vice President J.D. Vance issued a robust statement supporting ICE agents. In response, the White House shared part of his statement on social media with the caption “Stand with ICE.”

In other news, former MLB All-Star Mark Teixeira has begun campaigning as a Republican in Texas’ 21st Congressional District, aiming to assist President Trump in promoting an “America First” agenda.

Teixeira expressed his support for ICE on social media, noting, “I support ICE.” This came after Representative Chip Roy announced he would not seek reelection, instead running for the position of Texas attorney general.

Noem described the incident as “domestic terrorism,” asserting, “Our officers acted quickly and defensively, firing to protect themselves and those around them.” Federal officials indicated that Goode was part of a substantial operation targeting criminal illegal immigrants in the Twin Cities.

Teixeira, who is now 45, played 14 major league seasons, starting with the Texas Rangers in 2003. He’s perhaps best remembered for his time with the Yankees, where he became an MVP candidate and a World Series champion.

A notable athlete, Teixeira received the Silver Slugger Award three times and retired with a batting average of .269 and 409 home runs. He’s also a five-time Gold Glove Award winner, contributing to the Yankees’ 2009 World Series victory.

Upcoming congressional elections are set for November 2026, with the primaries scheduled for March.
