Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta fires ‘roughly 20’ employees who leaked company info to media

Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg has fired “about 20” employees who spilled “secret information” about the social media giant. The company said more heads could roll a few weeks after the tech giant complained about the leak.

“We tell employees when they join the company and provide regular reminders, providing them with anything that violates the policy of leaking inside information regardless of their intention,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement.

“We recently conducted an investigation in which around 20 employees were fired to share confidential information outside the company.

Mehta argued that after Zuckerberg abolished Day's initiative and ended the company's controversial fact-checking efforts, critics claimed he was comfortable with President Trump.

During a January Q&A session with Meta employees, Zuckerberg complained about the company's recent change in direction, which is likely to end in the media.

“We try to be really open and then everything I say is leaked,” Zuckerberg said. According to Vergefirst reported his firing on Thursday. “It sucks.”

As predicted, Zuckerberg's comments were leaked immediately. This led Meta to fire from company-wide memos warning employees that they would be fired.

“If information is stolen or leaked, it has an impact beyond the immediate security impact,” Meta Chief Information Security Officer Guy Rosen said in a memo. “Our teams are losing morale and we all waste time working on our products and working towards our goals and mission.”

Meta's chief technology officer Andrew Bosworth later said the company “makes progress by catching people.”

The shooting comes on the roughly 4,000 workers who were classified as “low performers” earlier this month. The cuts reached about 5% of the company's workforce.

Zuckerberg said Meta is hoping for a “strong year” to compete with its rivals to develop advanced artificial intelligence products, informing the company that it will hire new workers to replace exiled employees.
