The Facebook Parent Meta platform launched another app for Meta AI assistants on Tuesday, similar to what Microsoft-backed Openai and Alphabet's Google offers.
The standalone app is available within the family of WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Messenger companies as Meta is trying to boost the use of AI assistants.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg also shows a move to strengthen the company's position. A competitive AI landscapetakes on major rivals such as Openai and Google.
Meta's individual apps provide a more personalized response based on context and other user-specific elements related to a user's Facebook and Instagram account.
Meta's latest leading language model, Llama 4, supplies Meta AI assistants and is designed to rival the latest AI models from Openai, Google, Deepseek and Anthropic, with improved inference, multilingual capabilities and efficiency.
The new app will be integrated with Meta's AI glasses and with existing companion apps, the company said.
Meta will be holding its first AI developer event, called Ramacon, on Tuesday. This will focus on the Lama family of AI models.
Instagram owners are expected to report their first quarter results on Wednesday after the market approaches.
Meta will begin testing paid subscriptions for advanced versions of AI chatbots in the second quarter, Reuters reported in February.
However, subscription services may not make any meaningful revenue until the earliest of next year, sources say.
Launched in September 2023, Meta AI is a virtual assistant that uses large language models to perform inference tasks.
