Mark Zuckerberg's Meta will launch the Community Notes feature in the US next week on Facebook, Instagram and threads. Community-driven functions have replaced the left-wing “fact check” system used to censor conservatives over the past decade.
On Tuesday, Meta will begin releasing its own version of X's “Community Notes” feature on threads for Facebook, Instagram and US users. Report By TechCrunch.
Instead of relying on biased third-party so-called “fact checkers,” the Community Notes feature allows social media users to add context to potentially misleading posts.
This leaves the public with the responsibility of discussing the issue and understanding things for themselves, rather than the third-party “fact-checker” ban or censored content used to censor conservatives.
In particular, Elon Musk's X has relied on this kind of crowdsourcing as the sole means of social media platforms to correct information since SpaceX CEO acquired the company.
The method clearly seems to have worked, as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is currently trying to emulate X's community notes on his social media platform.
As reported by Breitbart News, Meta announcement Three weeks ago, social media users were able to sign up to be part of the community notes system for Facebook, Instagram and threads.
This came after the company discarded a third-party “fact check” system. Zuckerberg himself said that “it's just politically biased, and it destroyed more trust than it created in the US in particular.”
“The recent election feels like a cultural turning point towards prioritizing speeches,” Meta's CEO said in a video posted on her Instagram account earlier this year, adding that his company will “restoring free representations on the platform.”
“Like X, we'll remove the fact checker and replace it with community notes,” Zuckerberg revealed.
