A Nebraska substitute teacher was arrested naked in a car with a teenage student, who tried to run away but crashed into her and fled the scene in her underwear, police said.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Erin Ward, 45, was intercepted Saturday night after she was spotted mingling with a 17-year-old male student at Omaha High School, where she teaches.
Around 3 a.m. that night, police caught the married sub after receiving a report of a suspicious car parked on a cul-de-sac.
Police found two people in the back seat, and the panicked boy quickly climbed into the front seat and began driving, WOWT reported.
About two blocks later, he wrecked his car before fleeing into the night.
Ward remained at the scene, changing clothes in the back seat of the car, and allegedly confessed to having sex with the boy.
She had an Omaha public school ID and admitted to having been a substitute at various schools, including Burke High School, where the boy was later discovered to be a student. KLKN reported.
Later that night, he was found hiding in the garden wearing only underwear and a T-shirt.
The car they were in belonged to Ward and his spouse.
Ward was charged with felony sexual abuse by a school employee.
