Martina Navratilova thinks Donald Trump ear bandage is a ‘PR stunt’

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is among those who believe former President Donald Trump went too far with the bandage on his ear following the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

The severity of Trump’s injuries sustained when an assassin tried to shoot him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday has been questioned by some, including MSNBC host Ari Melber, who called the bandage Trump wore around his ear “a spectacle” during his first public appearance since the shooting.

Navratilova responded to a photo posted by the account X of Trump with a bandage on his ear, with a caption questioning the need for it.

“My best friend is a charge nurse (Level IV FNP) at a major trauma center in a big city,” the post read. “She says there is absolutely no need to treat an ear wound like this unless half your ear is blown off, and even then it wouldn’t look like this.”

Navratilova agreed, but claimed it was a “PR stunt” by Trump.

“Of course, this is clearly a publicity stunt. The day after the shooting, his ear wasn’t even bandaged…there wasn’t even a bandaid on it.” Navratilova tweeted..

Navratilova did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr. fired back at MSNBC after several commentators questioned the legitimacy of his father’s injuries.

“It wasn’t enough for them that he was shot in the face. Was that not enough?” he said. “That’s the problem. They can’t do anything about it. Trump Madness Syndrome is real. It’s so stupid that they can say that… You see the pictures from that time. There’s blood everywhere.”

The bandage worn by Trump was also worn by several delegates at the Republican National Convention (RNC) as a show of solidarity with Trump.

Arizona’s Joe Neglia was among the players wearing bandages.

“When Trump walked into the room yesterday and there was an outpouring of love in the room, I thought, ‘What can I do to honor the truth? What can I do?'” Neglia told Fox News Digital. “And then I saw the bandages and I thought, ‘I can do that too.’ So I bandaged him up just to honor him and show my sympathy and solidarity.”

At the RNC, many Republicans supported Trump and thanked God for protecting him from the assassination attempt.
