Marvel Comics has race-swapped one of its iconic superheroes, who was historically white, to be “non-binary” and “they/them” as part of its ongoing effort to awaken its comic book characters. Replaced with Native American pronouns.
The new story follows the Avengers' efforts to “repair” an alternate Earth called Earth-6160. Earth-6160 is an Earth where all the people who had superpowers and became heroes in other realities were never able to reach their full potential. For example, on Earth-6160, Peter Parker was never bitten by a radioactive spider, so Spider-Man never showed up. In addition to Parker, all other heroes also missed their calling on this alternate Earth.
Therefore, the Avengers decided to induce people who were superheroes on other Earths to take up their positions on Earth-6160 as well.
But when it comes to introducing Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner, to the role of eerily accurate archer Hawkeye in the Marvel movies, Earth-6160's Barton refuses to take up the bow. Instead, a new person will take over Hawkeye's mantel, and the character will never wake up again.
A new character named Charlie Ramsey becomes the Avenger's archer, as Barton refuses to agree to take on the role held by other Bartons from other Earths. And his pronouns are “they/them.” That's because Ramsey is American Indian and claims to be “nonbinary,” or genderqueer.
Series writer Deniz Camp wrote on his X account to promote the new character: We worked hard to make them cool, different, and yet unmistakably “Hawkeye.” ”
Camp also acknowledged that the new Hawkeye requires people to use woke pronouns, writing in a follow-up post, “So, yeah, Charlie's pronouns are they/them.”
This isn't the first time Marvel has used Hawkeye's work to push a radical gay agenda. In the 2021 Disney+ streaming series, hawkeyeproducers partially introduced a little-used super named “Bombshell” in one of the episodes. Bombshell is an explosives expert named Wendy Conrad in the comics, but she was not mentioned as a lesbian when she first appeared in 1983. But that has changed with the streaming series. Wendy Conrad, introduced on screen, was giving one of Hawkeye's trick arrows back to him. She put the arrow in a bag, but when she goes to give it to Hawkeye, played on screen by Jeremy Renner, she says that her “wife” gave her the bag and that she wants Hawkeye to give it back to her when she's done using it. I told him, and with that, I remade it. Character as a lesbian.
Marvel has spent a huge amount of time over the past 20 years or so reimagining characters that follow a gay agenda. And movies and streaming series have only increased that number many times over.
Just to name a few, in 2021 Marvel officially announced Thor character Loki as bisexual. The film producers also introduced a gay character in it. eternals The film was a huge flop in theaters. And this year, Marvel's streaming series, agatha all alongwhich features a gay teenager as one of the main characters.
