Marvin Harrison Jr. May Be Leaving Arizona Soon

It seems like Marvin Harrison Jr.’s time with the Arizona Cardinals might be coming to an end.

According to a report from ESPN’s Dan Graziano, there’s speculation among teams that the Cardinals could consider trading the fourth overall pick from 2024 due to yet another unsatisfactory season. He noted that Harrison will be eligible for an extension after this year, yet the Cardinals might struggle to afford him based on his current performance in the league.

“It’s probably a situation to keep an eye on concerning a potential change of scenery,” Graziano suggested.

Harrison, who is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, has an $11.25 million cap hit slated for next season. Furthermore, there’s a team option that extends to 2028, but considering his recent struggles, it seems less likely that the Cardinals will pick that up.

This season, he has recorded only one catch in two games. During a recent lopsided loss to the Seahawks, he was targeted just once, without making any receptions, despite being on the field for 74 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.

The slow start to his season follows a disappointing performance last year, where he caught 41 passes for 608 yards across 12 games.

The situation is further complicated by the Cardinals’ investment in Michael Wilson, who had a breakout late last season and recently signed a three-year, $75 million extension with the team.

After Sunday’s game, Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur defended Harrison, stating that his underwhelming performance wasn’t due to lack of effort. “I don’t see it that way. His running style differs from that of others,” he said, adding that the team’s narrative about Harrison shouldn’t overshadow what his teammates feel.

LaFleur also emphasized that it’s early in the season, mentioning that many factors contributed to Harrison’s limited performance—perhaps a mix of defensive strategies and internal missteps.
