Mary Trump Cautions Donald Trump Critics Not to ‘Overreact’

Mary Trump, his estranged niece and longtime critic of President-elect Donald Trump, has warned critics not to “overreact” and instead be more considerate of his actions.

Speaking during an hour-long session on social media site admitted that there was.

“This year is almost certainly going to be, I don't want to say worse, I don't want to go, but it's going to be even more difficult than the year before,” Mary Trump said. She added that people need to “think about how to overcome the stress war.”

“I've been too involved in politics this past year. That doesn't mean I don't pay attention. We all need to pay attention. But I don't mean that I don't pay attention. I took a lot of things to heart and it didn't reflect well on me,” she said.

The 59-year-old suggested those criticizing her uncle needed to move forward in a way that was not “debilitating” or “toxic.”

“How do we interpret what is happening without thinking too much about the good and the bad?” she argued. She then gave an example and said it was a pattern that had been going on for years.

“Donald was posting completely insane things on Twitter, on Truth Social, etc. The response was, 'Finally he's losing his mind, he's crazy and it's over.' Dew. That went on for eight years,” she said.

She went on to say that her uncle sometimes does “legitimately scary” things, but “sometimes we overreact and think it's the end of the world.”

“Now, let's take a breather.”

Mary Trump's soft words stand in stark contrast to her previous reactions to her uncle's actions in the nation's highest office.

As reported by Breitbart News, she said last September that President Trump “has suffered from severe mental illness for decades” and is now “delusional.”

In December 2023, she called President Trump a “cornered animal,” saying, “The legal, economic, and political dangers are increasing by the day, and his severe personality disorder has made him a cornered animal.” “You can no longer care about anything but safety and security.”

All of those attacks and other events were preceded by her writings. Too Much is Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man The book was published in 2020 and sought to shatter Trump's aura in the eyes of the public and his supporters.

In a taxpayer-funded interview with National Public Radio, she said: said Preventing him from being re-elected is a matter of life and death.

Mary Trump was also asked if the president-elect plans to attend the funeral of late Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

President Trump told reporters on New Year's Eve that he planned to travel to Washington, D.C., next week to attend Carter's service.

Mary instructed the Carter family to rescind his invitation.

“I really hope they tell him not to come. That's the game we have to play in this country right now as Democrats,” she said.

“Please tell him he is a disgrace and we don't want him here.”
