Maryland State Police arrested five men on robbery charges in February, who are now suspected of being part of a South American theft ring involved in crimes across multiple states.

The Baltimore County Police Department said 20-year-old Gabriel Matamara Ponce. Thomas Crisosto Araya, 21 years old. Jorge Gatica-Vergara, 22 years old. Luis Oyanedel Valenzuela, 23 years old. and Gabriel Miranda Gonzalez, 27, were all arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and other robbery-related charges.

Officers responded to the 2300 block of Tufton Springs Lane on Feb. 3 at approximately 6:45 p.m. for a report of a robbery in progress.

When officers arrived, they found the suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Police were able to stop the suspects and take them into custody.

Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and learned that the suspects may be involved in four other residential burglaries in Baltimore County.

All five suspects were held in the Baltimore County Lockdown Facility. (St. Petersburg)

The suspects are also believed to be involved in robberies in North Carolina, Alabama, and Oklahoma.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s inquiries about the legal status of the five suspects arrested.

All five suspects were held without bail in the Baltimore County Jail.
