A Charles County, Maryland, man is facing murder and other charges after he allegedly shot and killed his son-in-law after he failed to complete some chores, police said.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office announced that 48-year-old Darshan Eric Williams has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and other related charges.
Law enforcement officials responded to a home on Hunt Road in La Plata after receiving a 911 call stating that Williams had shot her 15-year-old son.
When officers arrived, they found Williams standing outside the home and he was taken into custody without incident.

Officers then entered the home and found the 15-year-old son unconscious and not breathing.
The sheriff's office said officers performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. However, he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation into the matter revealed that Ms. Williams was angry with her son-in-law for not completing some of the chores.
Williams was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, child abuse resulting in death and use of a firearm in a crime of violence. He was taken to the Charles County Detention Center.

Court records show Williams is being held without bail and his next bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday. He also has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 17.
