A mother and her teenage daughter from Maryland have been accused of assaulting their great-grandfather in a parking lot, leading to his death several weeks later. The mother, Kiana Bonaparte, aged 49, might soon face additional murder charges.
Initially, Bonaparte was charged with several offenses, including first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy for first-degree assault, and reckless endangerment, following the violent encounter with Gregory Turnipseed, a 71-year-old Baltimore transportation investigator.
The coroner later ruled Turnipseed’s death a homicide, and the prosecution is likely to upgrade Bonaparte’s charges to murder since she rejected a plea deal.
According to reports, the incident took place on October 15, 2025, when Turnipseed approached Bonaparte’s vehicle, informing her that another car was waiting for the parking space. At that point, her 15-year-old daughter allegedly exited the car and struck Turnipseed in the face.
When Turnipseed attempted to intervene, Bonaparte reportedly jumped on his back, causing him to fall. Prosecutors say she then kicked him in the head, delivering a final blow before they left the scene.
Turnipseed suffered a brain hemorrhage and memory loss but was able to identify Bonaparte in a police lineup. Despite undergoing surgery, he passed away about six weeks post-incident, just a day before Thanksgiving.
In court, Turnipseed’s family members expressed their disbelief and sorrow. His daughter, LaSheryl Carrington White, remarked on her father’s helpful nature, saying, “He helps everyone, he always has.”
It remains uncertain whether any charges will be filed against Bonaparte’s daughter.
