A 33-year-old Canadian woman, Caitlin E. Tracy, was apprehended by immigration authorities after an incident at the Jersey Shore during the Fourth of July weekend. She reportedly slapped a teenager who was wearing clothing associated with Trump.
According to court documents, the confrontation took place on July 3, where Tracy filmed herself as the situation escalated on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk. She was upset with two young girls who were wearing sweatpants that had “Trump” and “ICE” on them, leading to her allegedly punching one of them.
Surveillance footage captured the incident, and police were able to identify Tracy, subsequently issuing a warrant for her arrest.
On Monday, she was taken into custody and charged with several offenses including endangering a child’s welfare, simple assault, harassment, and obstruction, as detailed in court records.
Fortunately, the teenager involved did not sustain any injuries.
Tracy had entered the U.S. in 2024 using a passport and was residing with her husband in Asbury Park, as reported. Her husband, Matthew Geroni, claimed that she was detained by ICE and taken to a facility in Newark.
In a TikTok post, Geroni shared, “Yesterday, July 13th, my wife was detained by ICE and taken to Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey.”
Geroni, who is a U.S. citizen, married Tracy a little over three years ago. He has been using his platform to discuss his wife’s situation with his followers, which number around 140,000.
Despite the legal troubles, he expressed that his primary concern is Tracy’s safety and well-being, and he seemed to suggest that the circumstances leading to her arrest were misunderstood.
He even started a GoFundMe for her legal fees but had to take it down after being reported by a political group.
Interestingly, Geroni often posts videos poking fun at Republicans, branding himself as the “Asbury Park Clown” and the “Jersey Shore Clown.”
He mentioned that the police advised his wife to leave the boardwalk to avoid charges due to financial constraints before a warrant was eventually issued and Tracy surrendered. A court appearance is set for August 4.
