'MAS*H' actress Gwen Farrell passes away at 93

Gwen Farrell, famed for her role in “M*A*S*H,” has passed away at the age of 93.

Her son, Keith Farrell, shared that Gwen died on Thursday in Los Angeles, as reported by TMZ.

The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover funeral expenses.

“Gwen was so much more than an actress to us. She was a grandmother, a beacon of light, and a constant source of love and wisdom. She had this remarkable ability to make others feel supported and valued, without any judgment,” her family expressed in a message.

“Her passing has left a profound void in our hearts that can never be replaced. We’ll miss her voice, her strength, and the quiet comfort she provided. Although we are heartbroken, we are also incredibly thankful for her life and the legacy she leaves behind.”

In 1980, Gwen turned to boxing and became a referee. Her family noted, “She gained the respect of fighters, trainers, and fans through her confidence, fairness, and calm demeanor.” Throughout her career, she broke barriers in a sport dominated by men and made history as the first woman to referee a world title fight.

As of now, the GoFundMe campaign has raised $110 of its $13,000 target.

Gwen, the daughter of Fatburger founder Lovie Yancey, was a mainstay on the beloved war comedy, which aired from 1972 to 1983. She appeared in 26 episodes, playing various nurse roles.

Her other credits included “Starsky and Hutch” and “Billy Jack Goes to Washington.”
