West Seattle Jewelry Store Robbery
A dramatic midday robbery occurred on Thursday at a jewelry store in West Seattle, with four masked individuals quickly making off with valuables in less than two minutes, as captured on surveillance footage.
The staff at Menache & Sons faced a frightening situation, as employees defended themselves with bear spray and stun guns.
“We were really shaken up,” said Josh Menache, the family business’s vice president. He added that the store will remain closed for a time as they assess damages.
Reportedly, the store had showcased an emerald necklace valued at $125,000 and a Rolex watch priced around $750,000.
Employees are now starting to account for their losses after clearing away the shattered glass. A nearby gym manager shared that one of the store’s employees had rushed to seek help, saying, “They told me to call 911. I was moments away from starting a class when chaos erupted.”
As for the incident itself, it unfolded around 11:50 AM, a time when one would least expect such events during a workday. “I think there was just shock and surprise all around. Hearing the glass break, I think people were bracing for the worst,” the gym manager noted. “We locked the door and waited for the police.”
The suspects fled in a vehicle prior to the police’s arrival and remain at large.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the robbery. Seattle authorities are urging anyone who may have information to reach out at 206-233-5000.
