A mass shooting in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday night left four people dead and at least 21 injured.

Two men and one woman were killed at the scene in the 2000 block of Magnolia Avenue in the Five Points South neighborhood near the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a fourth victim died at University Hospital, according to Birmingham police. He told AL.com.

The incident happened just after 11 p.m., Officer Truman Fitzgerald told reporters.

An Alabama woman's 18-year journey on the run has ended with her arrest on 88 outstanding warrants.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported eight victims to hospital, four of whom suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

Many others also arrived at the hospital in their own cars.

Police say the shooting appears to be the work of multiple shooters, and no suspects are in custody.

“Rest assured, we will do everything in our power to locate, identify and hunt down those responsible for attacking our citizens,” Fitzgerald told AL.com.

Roads in the area have been closed as police continue their investigation.

Fitzgerald said police have asked the FBI and ATF for assistance.
