Massachusetts man bite police officer at Boston City Hall on Friday morning.

A Massachusetts man has been arrested after he allegedly bit a police officer during a “violent encounter” at Boston City Hall.

According to Boston 25the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said the “violent encounter” between 51-year-old Michael Williams and authorities occurred at 9:40 a.m. Friday morning at Boston City Hall.

Authorities said witnesses said Williams began shouting racial slurs at the crowd at the government building.

A Boston Police Department officer attempted to stop him and asked him to leave the premises immediately.

Police attempted to arrest the 51-year-old man after he refused to leave.

One of the officers reportedly asked, “Did you choose to be arrested?”

“Yes, I’d rather be arrested,” Williams replied.

During the arrest, Williams bit the officer’s hand, drawing blood.

Local broadcasters reported that the bite caused severe injuries and heavy bleeding, with some of the officer’s skin and tissue “dangling from his hand.”

Williams then freed his arm, struck two officers with his fist, and fled.

Police said he was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, trespassing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault causing injury.

Four police officers were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment of injuries.
