Fatal Stabbing Over Dinner Dispute in Massachusetts
A man from Massachusetts has been charged with stabbing his mother’s boyfriend 17 times during a dinner argument about steak on Saturday.
Andrew Horseman, 41, reportedly lost his temper while at the home of his mother’s partner, 66-year-old Paul Pomerlot. Prosecutor Nicole Piercentini Lawson noted during the hearing that Horseman attacked Pomerlot, stabbing him multiple times.
After Pomerlot fell to the ground, Horseman allegedly poured a flammable liquid over him, but he was unable to ignite it before a relative intervened.
Following the incident, Horseman fled the scene but was swiftly apprehended nearby and charged with murder. Pomerlot was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries within an hour.
According to Lawson, Horseman lived in the home along with his mother and Pomerlot. Witnesses mentioned that Pomerlot was unemployed and faced criticism from Horseman for living with his mother.
Horseman’s attorney, Joshua Wood, suggested that this violent outburst was the result of years of domestic conflict. He emphasized that the relationship dynamics were complex and that this was not a random act of violence.
Details about the steak dispute remain unclear, as does the duration of Pomerlot’s relationship with Horseman’s mother. Peter, Pomerlot’s twin brother, noted that Horseman seemed troubled.
Local residents expressed their disbelief at the incident, recalling Pomerlot as a kind and helpful figure in the community. One neighbor remarked, “I knew him for 30 years, and he was like a gentle giant.”
Horseman has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail, with a court appearance scheduled for July 28th.
