Massie: Trump's Critique Boosts My Fundraising — 'We Will Win Against Them'

Massie Talks Fundraising Amid Trump’s Criticism

On Sunday, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) shared on ABC’s “This Week” that he believes President Donald Trump’s criticisms will actually help him raise funds, which could be beneficial in the upcoming primary.

A glimpse of their conversation:

STEPHANOPOULOS: With a primary election on the horizon this Tuesday, President Trump has been vocal about you on Truth Social, especially after Sen. Bill Cassidy’s loss in Louisiana. He posted, “Unscrupulous Congressman Tom Massie voted against tax cuts, border walls, and military enforcement. The worst congressman ever. Kentucky, vote for this son of a bitch on Tuesday.” How do you respond?

Massie: I think this negativity could actually boost fundraising at thomasmassie.com. Each time he mentions my name, it stirs people up. This primary is notably costly, with three billionaires from outside our state pouring in significant money to influence the results. It’s not just about the President’s tweets. I’ve managed to hold my ground despite their tactics. Miriam Adelson and Paul Singer are heavily involved, and it’s interesting that their funding has allowed my opponents to rely on taxpayer money, which is a bit troubling.

STEPHANOPOULOS: You mentioned that your vote symbolizes whether Israel can secure a seat in Congress. Can you elaborate on that?

Massie: Right, groups like RJC, AIPAC, and the aforementioned donors represent the Israel lobby. The way I see it, this becomes a test of whether Israel’s interests will sway Congress through pressure. I’ve stood firm against that, and while they’re targeting me, the polls indicate I’m ahead, which is making them anxious. Hence, the presence of the Army Chief in my area tomorrow. Plus, AIPAC recently invested another $3 million in my race, reflecting their growing concern.

STEPHANOPOULOS: The President seems committed despite his recent assertions of desperation. He’s had success taking down candidates he opposes in primaries. How do you plan to counter his influence?

Massie: I have strong backing from right-to-life and firearms organizations. We had four parliament members campaigning for me yesterday. My situation is a bit unique. Additionally, my fundraising through grassroots efforts at thomasmassie.com has been substantial, with thousands of donors contributing. That’s how we’ll navigate this challenge.
