Federal Inspector It has reported that approximately 22,672 pounds of Johnsonville Cheddar Bratwursts have been dispatched to 10 states after consumers found hard plastic in the product.
Based in Momans, Illinois, Johnsonville manufactured the meat on February 5, 2025, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Services (FSIS).
A specific 19-ounce sealed tray package containing five Johnsonville Bacon Cheddar Bratwursts with the package code “b9fod” has been subject to recall. Each affected product label shows the establishment number “Est. 1647”.

Bratwursts were distributed to retailers in Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

FSIS indicated that the problem was detected after the agency was alerted that Johnsonville had received two consumer complaints, reporting the presence of hard plastic in Bratwurst.
While no confirmed injuries have been reported related to the consumption of Bratwursts at the time of recall, those who are worried are encouraged to contact a healthcare professional.

FSIS recommended that anyone in possession of a recalled item should return it to the point of purchase for a refund or exchange.
