The Winterstorm Jet is about to drift through the US, prompting travel warnings and coast-to-coast weather recommendations. It has been reported.
The fifth winter storm in just a week is expected to take a wide path across the country between Thursday and Sunday. The West Coast is expected to snow on Thursday, according to the report.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued several weather warnings for wind, extreme cold, snow, ice and wind California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and parts of Montana.
According to a report citing FlightAware.com, around 2,000 flights have been delayed both inside and outside the US airport, with over 220 cancelled by Thursday morning.
The winter storm is expected to reach the eastern US by Friday evening. The report says that along with areas near Central Wisconsin and Michigan, upstate New York, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and New Hampshire, we could see as much as snowy feet.
Snowfall could disrupt operations at two major Midwest airports near Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois, Accuweather meteorologists warned.
The weather channel reported that by Friday night, the high altitude area from Sierra Nevada to the Rockies received 2 to 6 feet of snow, allowing dangerous travel conditions to be achieved. Gusts of winds may be seen in the Sierra Nevada area. The NWS office in Reno said gusts of wind could reach 100 mph on the mountain crest.
“The combination of strong winds and heavy snow can cause snow to blow on the roads and cause poor visibility,” the report continues. “City western part of the road includes Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho, but winter mixes are available in Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon and Reno, Nevada. ”
California's lowland areas are receiving flood warnings, according to the report.
