Best news from breakup day for islanders: Matt Balzal and Semion Barramov both expect to be ready for training camp in September.
Neither player had knee surgery, but they have yet to start skating on various issues, but both heard positive notes about the rehabilitation process ahead of the long summer.
“I think I’m ready for next season,” said Barramov, who didn’t play after Black Friday. “Everything is going well with rehabilitation and physical therapy. Everything we do now is to get the rehabilitation done right away and have a good summer training. And I’m going to prepare for training camp, and that’s the main goal.”
Varlamov said the injury “had been bothering me for a long time” before proceeding with the proceedings in December.
He is on track to finish his rehabilitation around the beginning of May and will start skating again in June.
There have been some doubts as to whether he will soon turn 37 and be ready for next season, but it is true whether the islanders will bring another backup goalkeeper in the summer.
As for Balzal, if the islanders were in the playoffs, it’s at least possible he’s on the ice for Game 1.
He said he was about to go back when the team’s playoff push peaked, but was eased when the chances of the berth became less likely. Therefore, training camp should not be an issue.

“I really want to endure this,” Balzar said. “I love the game, I love being around my teammates, which is everything for me. I can’t play as many games as I missed out on sucking mentally and physically.
Alexander Romanov said he broke cartilage during the ribs early in the season, but it healed completely. Regarding his pending restricted free agency, Romanoff said he wanted to stay on Long Island.
Noah Dobson, Bo Horvatt and Simon Holmstrom were all open to participating in the World Championships to varying degrees.
Horvat was the most definitive thing about it. Team Canada asks and says he will play.
Pending unlimited free agent Tony DeAnguero said his first choice was to play with the Islanders next season.
Matt Martin made no announcement about his future, but last week the final atmosphere around No. 17 is revealed.
“Take some time here and see what’s next,” Martin said. “When the time comes, you’ll know what I want to do and what I want to pursue from there.”
