'Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed' Delivers on Its Name with Virtual Sex Scene Featuring Brandon Flynn and Tatiana Maslany

New Apple TV Series Promises Fun and Drama

Apple TV’s latest offering, Guaranteed Maximum Pleasure, premiered on May 20th and dives right into its dark comedy thriller vibe.

The pilot episode of Best Pleasure features a steamy scene just minutes into the 10-episode run. The show revolves around Paula, played by Tatiana Maslany, a newly divorced mother dealing with the complexities of her life, especially her online dating escapades. Her search for enjoyment and connection leads to unforeseen consequences, risking both her safety and her custody of her daughter. Interestingly, the initial intimate encounter is virtual—an electronic connection with Trevor, portrayed by Brandon Flynn, who captures her heart through his screen.

The first episode, titled “Magnet,” opens with Paula in a candid video call with Trevor, where they discuss her custody troubles, recent move, and the annoyances of her ex-boyfriend, played by Jake Johnson. As she vacillates between her living room and kitchen, Trevor is all ears, providing attentive responses. Their rapport feels genuine and exhilarating, culminating in Paula’s realization about the call duration led to something more than mere conversation. When told they have only six minutes left, Trevor humorously quips that it’s an eternity as he sheds his shirt.

Paula’s playful nervousness prompts her to switch off the lights as Trevor gets more comfortable. Sipping on a beer, she finds her spot near the fridge, while Trevor’s soothing voice reassures her that she deserves a good time. Their chemistry becomes palpable, depicting a lively exchange in pursuit of pleasure. As the show reaches the five-minute mark, it bursts into an energetic opening credits sequence that promises an edgy experience.

The premiere was well-received, leading to high expectations for casting the right Trevor. Flynn’s captivating blue eyes and affable demeanor paired well with the confident performance he brought to the character. To nail his role as Camboy, Flynn consulted friends with experience in the sex work industry. He noted, “We have a broader scope than that.” His goal during filming? To ensure Paula felt good during their scenes together, channeling positivity throughout every choice made.

While there are no spoilers, Trevor’s presence in the early episodes often comes through screens, enhancing the depiction of virtual connections in the storyline. Creator David J. Rosen aimed to echo the online interactions that became more prevalent during the pandemic. The concept created unique acting challenges for director David Gordon Green, particularly in ensuring the webcam interactions felt genuine.

Flynn shared how they navigated the filming setup, adapting to a split stage where he and Maslany inhabited their distinct “apartments.” Despite technical challenges, including audio issues, they remained engaged, with moments of improvisation arising organically between takes. The excitement of performing in such a unique way contributed to the chemistry evident onscreen.

Ultimately, while Trevor’s tagline may be “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed,” the series seems to uphold its promise through engaging performances and vibrant storytelling. New episodes drop on Wednesdays on Apple TV, captivating audiences with this intriguing mix of fun and drama.
