Maxine Waters Blocked from Entering Federal Building During ICE Operation

Maxine Waters Denied Entry to Los Angeles Federal Building

Democrat Maxine Waters was reportedly denied access to the Los Angeles Federal Building over the weekend, as detailed by eyewitnesses on social media.

A user on X, known as “STU,” shared, “Breaking: Rep. Maxine Waters attempts to enter the Los Angeles Federal Building to check on the arrested SEIU President David Fuerta.” The tweet referenced ongoing national tensions, mentioning the National Guard being deployed in response to recent protests.

In another tweet, it was noted that Waters tried to visit Fuerta at the Metropolitan Detention Center but was reportedly met with a locked door, which slammed in her face. Despite her insistence on her status as a lawmaker, she was unable to enter.

According to a shared image, Waters made an effort to enter the detention center to speak with Fuerta, who was detained following protests. Sadly, her attempt was cut short when the door was abruptly closed before she could gain access.

During her encounter with security, Waters expressed her intentions, saying, “Hello, hello, councillor. I’m now using council authority. Sorry, I need to go in.” She further stated, “I just want to meet David… he’s the head of the SEIU Regional Union here… I want to report to my Caucus about what happened.”

Fuerta sustained injuries during his arrest amid protests and is currently in custody, as noted by Politico. Additionally, House Democrats, including Rep. Luz Rivas, claimed they faced similar barriers when trying to access federal buildings to observe the situation.

The ICE operation in question focused on over 100 undocumented immigrants, who were alleged to be gang members and suspected drug traffickers, fueling intense protests in various locations across Los Angeles, particularly in Compton and Paramount.
