Maxwell’s Lawyers Discuss Meeting with DOJ Official

Lawyers for Ghislaine Maxwell described their meeting with Associate Attorney General Todd Blanche as “very productive.” This encounter, which is somewhat unusual, involved Blanche asking questions directly to Maxwell, someone closely tied to the late Jeffrey Epstein. Typically, such inquiries are handled by career attorneys within the Department of Justice.

David Marx, a lawyer representing Maxwell, shared details outside the federal courthouse where the meeting occurred. He mentioned that Blanche dedicated an entire day to the discussion, during which he posed numerous questions that Maxwell responded to thoroughly. He noted, “She never stopped. She never called for her privilege. She never refused to answer.” According to reports, she was candid in her responses.

As of now, the Department of Justice has yet to comment on the meeting.

Maxwell, who was found guilty of sex trafficking linked to Epstein in 2021, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. She is appealing her conviction before the Supreme Court.

Epstein, meanwhile, died by suicide while awaiting trial on related charges.

There has been increasing pressure for the Trump administration to disclose more details regarding the Epstein case. A recent memo released by the bureau suggested that Epstein’s death was indeed a suicide and that he had not maintained a client list.

Attorney General Pam Bondy had previously indicated that relevant files were with her, but later chose not to release additional information, citing concerns that it included sensitive materials that could harm Epstein’s victims.

In a report by The Wall Street Journal, it was mentioned that Bondy informed President Trump in May that his name appeared numerous times in files associated with Epstein. She also noted that various other prominent figures were mentioned, though this does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing. Sources familiar with these documents indicated they contained hundreds of names.

Earlier this week, Blanche reaffirmed support from both the DOJ and the FBI regarding the ongoing investigations. He referenced a joint statement released on July 6, reinforcing its accuracy. He stated that a detailed review of files from the FBI concerning Epstein revealed no new evidence warranting investigations into uncharged individuals.

Blanche also relayed that President Trump had expressed a desire to release all credible evidence. “If Ghislaine Maxwell has information about the person who committed a crime against the victim, the FBI and DOJ will certainly consider what she has to say,” he added.
