Mayor Eric Adams followed party leadership in endorsing Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination, despite having criticized the vice president’s handling of the border just hours earlier.
“I look forward to moving toward the convention and seeing Vice President Harris as the nominee,” Hizzoner said Monday morning on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“Everybody knows who I am when it comes to public safety and she was very clear on the campaign trail,” he said, adding, “I think she’s the voice the party needs right now.”

The mayor continued to praise the vice president, praising her leadership abilities and even how she has inherited border issues in the Biden administration.
But the night before, Adams refused to endorse Harris and appeared to criticize her efforts to address the root causes of migration from Central America.
“I’m frustrated with our national leadership,” Adams told CNN’s Erin Burnett. “Addressing immigration reform is something that has been a failure for years, even before this administration. It’s been very clear: We needed one czar. [to] We will deal with the influx of immigrants who are released on parole and coming into our country.”
President Joe Biden nominated Harris for the 2021 White House. Oversees the administration’s diplomatic efforts in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Curb the flow of migrants at the southern border and create a long-term strategy for the country.
Since then, border crossings have reached an all-time high, with more than 200,000 asylum seekers arriving in New York seeking refuge.
“There’s a process and we’re going to follow that process,” he said Sunday when asked again whether he would support Harris.
By Monday morning, his tune had changed after the mayor reportedly met with party leaders in New York.
In the X thread, the mayor Continued in the afternoon Kudos to Harris.
“I’ve spoken with numerous state and city leaders, and we all agree that Vice President Harris will get results for New York,” he said. “Now is the time to unite our party and unite our people against dangerous Republican policies and put forward policies that will deliver a safer, more affordable future.”
