Mayor Eric Adams has reached an ‘epiphany’ on NYC’s sanctuary status: Scotto

Mayor Eric Adams had an “epiphany” about the Big Apple’s sanctuary status, according to FOX Nation host Rosanna Scott on FOX 5 New York. “The Trap of the Sanctuary.”

“When the immigrants first came here, he used to greet them as they got off the bus, holding their babies and kissing them, but now he realized we had a problem. ,” she told “Special Report” host Bret Baier on Tuesday.

Reeling from the unmitigated crisis ravaging the city, Adams is now calling for sanctuary laws to be changed to allow immigrants who commit violent crimes to be turned over to ICE for deportation.

This comes as a video of immigrants attacking NYPD officers in Times Square has gone viral, and another video shows an immigrant gang dragging a woman in front of a Brooklyn deli, grabbing her purse and shoving her against a pillar. A video of the incident was released.

“I think the mayor had an epiphany and realized that this cannot continue,” she told Baier.

“People are so outraged in New York City that, as a sanctuary city, something like this is happening right now. The mayor is not allowed to have police report this to federal authorities that this is happening in an immigrant community. “No, but I think so, as I’ve heard recently.” “He’s changed his tune. He wants to change the law so he can deport people who have committed crimes in New York City.”

Scott, a co-anchor of “Good Day New York,” has visited locations like the iconic Roosevelt Hotel, which has been repurposed as an immigrant processing hub since it was shut down during the coronavirus pandemic. I have taken Fox Nation subscribers with me to witness this crisis first hand. Now some are calling it the “new Ellis Island.”

But the hotel, like other migrant shelters, is overcrowded and unsustainable.

“There is no place for immigrants,” Scott stressed, adding that 70 people were found to be in the country illegally at a furniture store in Queens because there is no space at local shelters.

Scott said immigrant crimes occur within shelters, but most are “silenced” by city officials.

“Now that it’s out on the streets and you see it a lot in Times Square, you can’t avoid it anywhere, so they need to talk about it.”

In “The Sanctuary Trap”, Scott sits down with Mayor Adams to confront him about the crisis, but the mayor claims that his hands are tied under current law.

“The law says you can’t notify ICE. You can’t break the law, you can’t enforce the law. You can’t deport people. You can’t stop people from entering the country, you can’t stop people from entering the country, “I repeat, I can’t report you to ICE for deportation. There are things I can’t do,” he said.

But he also explained that challenges to “right to shelter” rules that require cities to house the homeless are underway in the court system, adding, “This is not for immigrants or workers. we said.” Asylum seeker. ”

Since Scott’s resignation, Adams has argued that sanctuary city laws need to be “fixed” to allow immigrant criminals to be deported.

Failure to turn criminals over to ICE had repercussions outside the Empire State.

“It seems like there is no end now,” Scott said of the crisis. “Even the mayor admits that things have gotten out of control. Everyone is exhausted. Even some charities that have been trying to help some migrants are saying that this has to end. I realize that I have to. That can’t happen.” Please keep going. ”
