Republicans say the measure is needed to show the rest of the country how border states are responding to the surge in migrants.
Some Democratic leaders have warned about busing migrants from border states to Democratic areas such as New York City and Chicago. immigration crisis has overwhelmed governments, and Biden says they are failing to take appropriate action to stem the tide.
MSNBC host Al Sharpton spoke to Mr. Johnson on Sunday about the immigration crisis, noting that it will take a “tremendous toll” as the situation progresses. John R. Lott, director of the Crime Prevention Research Center, reused the mayor's statement to question Biden's border controls.
“If Abbott is busing illegal aliens to Chicago and New York, and he is ‘attacking’ those cities, then Biden is sending illegal aliens into Texas on an even bigger scale. What do you call it?” he asked.
