Dalton's “dictatorial” mayor, Tiffany Henyard, has called for the arrest of dissenters in a rambling social media rant, as described by a landlord who was fed up with his response to Paul, the gunman who was being evicted. I assumed he would ask for it.
Henyard, who lives in suburban Illinois, went on a violent rampage that lasted nearly 90 minutes. on Facebook live video The Thornton Township meeting she heads was canceled Tuesday because not enough board members attended.
In a marathon speech, the scandal-hit mayor defended himself against constant criticism of his handling of the city's business and finances and accused opposing officials of being corrupt.
Mr Henyard said: “We will be seeking the arrest of those involved.” “I'm going to press charges. It's a lot. That's just me telling you a little bit, because all this pointing fingers at Tiffany and lying to me is over now. It is my time to speak, as I say, the truth will speak.”
The self-proclaimed super mayor did not elaborate on what charges he wanted laid, but accused his opponents of “grabbing power and money.” WGN9 reported.
She also vowed to reveal the “full truth” about the controversy swirling around her at a later date.
Only one Thorntown trustee appeared with Henyard at Tuesday's canceled meeting after Trustee Chris Gonzalez said he would not go because the room was too small. The Chicago Tribune reported.
“It was not my intention to put people in a dangerous environment,” Gonzalez told the newspaper. “I wasn't going to argue. I mean, it's the right thing to do. It's the right thing to do.”
Trustees Dalton and Henyard were also at odds over the agreed upon meeting location, leading to Henyard filing an unsuccessful lawsuit. WBS reported.
The mayor is facing a split between village and town and possible eviction.
Property owner Jenetta Hull claimed that Henyard and her boyfriend had not paid the full rent since August.
According to reports, Ms Hull once rented a property to a politician she considered a friend, but their relationship soured in 2021 after Mr Henyard pressured her into moving into his home.
“And she said, 'I hear you're renting the house.' I said, 'Well, there's someone moving in soon,'” Hal said. he told Fox 32.
“And she says, 'No, they can't move in because I want them to.' And I'm like, 'Excuse me?'”
Henyard's mistress said she couldn't afford it after her rent went up $200 over the summer to $2,400 a month because of property tax increases.
Hull claimed that the couple did not pay the full rent in August and did not pay rent in September.
She also accused Henyard of changing the locks and codes on cars in the garage to keep her away.
“If I push and go to a locksmith and try to get the keys back, she's probably going to arrest me,” Hull told the station.
She filed an eviction case in September but has not been able to provide paperwork to Henyard or her other half.
“At some point, you have to understand that karma will catch up with you,” Hull told FOX 32 in a message to the mayor. “Just pay the rent.”
He previously served as Henyard's attorney. he told Fox 32. The claim of unpaid rent was false.
Both Mr. Dalton and Mr. Thorntown were subpoenaed earlier this year, along with other Democratic groups and associates, and Mr. Henyard faces federal scrutiny, according to reports.
Henyard, who is running for re-election, denies any wrongdoing.
