Omar Fateh Seeks Mayoral Position in Minneapolis
Omar Fateh, notable for being the first Somali-American and Muslim state senator, has now set his sights on becoming Minneapolis’ mayor. His campaign strategies seem to echo those of New York City’s leftist mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani.
In a social media video, Fateh addressed a common question he receives: “Everyone keeps asking me, ‘Omar, why aren’t you sharing more videos?'” He explained, “Balancing my duties as a state senator, a second job, and preparing for a new child hasn’t left me much time. But I’m here fighting for you.” Among his proposals are initiatives for tuition-free colleges for working-class families, protections for ride-share drivers, and the legalization of fentanyl testing strips.
Fateh outlined his vision for an “affordable Minneapolis” that caters to all residents. He aims to foster a city where working individuals can find affordable housing, shield the city “from the unfriendly White House,” and enhance the city’s public safety approach.
His objectives include raising the minimum wage to $20 by 2028, promoting new construction, and implementing rent stabilization measures to curb price increases. “To protect all communities from Donald Trump,” he stated in his campaign video, “the Minneapolis Police Department will not engage with ICE. Approximately 47% of calls to the MPD could be redirected to non-police responses.” Fateh is also affiliated with the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party.
“This is detrimental to our country,” commented Pat Gray on his show, “Pat Gray Unleashed,” expressing concerns about the influx of such candidates, while Keith Marinack highlighted, “George Soros has funded candidates like this to the tune of $37 million over nine years.” Gray added, “What we’re witnessing here surpasses what we’ve seen in New York City and Minneapolis. It feels even more alarming.”
