McDonald’s New Corporate Strategy Announcement

McDonald’s has revealed plans to present its updated corporate strategy at an upcoming global event for franchisees and suppliers in Las Vegas, according to a statement made on Monday.

The initiative, termed “McDonald’s Next,” aims to boost automation, enhance hospitality standards, leverage social media for marketing, and improve the flavors of their sandwiches and fries. It seems like a pretty ambitious direction.

As the leading fast-food chain globally by revenue, McDonald’s mentioned that more specifics, including financial data, would be provided during an investor event scheduled for September.

This new strategy comes at a time when McDonald’s is trying to retain customers from lower-income groups, who have been eating out less often following rising prices over the years. In light of this, the chain has been emphasizing appealing dining deals, loyalty rewards, and special menu offerings to attract more visitors. It’s interesting how they are adapting to consumer behavior.

A study from UBS Evidence Labs, which was recently shared with Reuters, indicates a decline in how many U.S. customers felt the chain provided good value—dropping from 55% in 2020 to around 40% in 2024. However, this perception has seemed to plateau since that time.

“Even though we have seen a recovery in our value perceptions in many markets, we still need to make sure we monetize every customer visit,” said CEO Chris Kempczinski in a memo circulated company-wide.

Jill McDonald, who oversees restaurant experience at McDonald’s, noted that the goal of the new strategy is to make their establishments “easier to operate and more enjoyable to visit.” That sounds like a solid plan for improving customer satisfaction.

Prior to this, the company’s corporate strategy released in 2020 was known as “Arch Acceleration,” which primarily focused on enhancing digital sales and marketing efforts.
