Conor McGregor Eyes UFC Event at the White House

UFC fighter Conor McGregor hasn’t stepped into the octagon since July 2021, but he’s possibly gearing up for a notable return next year. After Donald Trump announced that a UFC fight will occur on the White House grounds, McGregor took to social media, expressing interest in participating.

“On July 4th, America. I’m excited that President Trump announced the UFC fight event at the White House. I’m honored! Count me!” McGregor posted on X. He later shared the post again, this time including a photo of himself with Trump in the Oval Office.

Earlier this year, McGregor also mentioned a presidential run in Ireland. On Friday, he made a bold prediction about being involved in the White House fight next year, suggesting he could potentially serve as the Irish president before taking part in the event. “Next July 4th is Saturday, and it’s about President Trump’s UFC White House event. I will govern as the Irish president for less than a year to go out on the White House lawn and throw it out. Epic proportions!” he declared.

In March, he visited the White House, speaking out against the Irish government in an attempt to shed light on issues facing his homeland. He criticized them for neglecting the voices of the Irish people, stating, “What’s going on in Ireland is a tragedy. Our government is a government with zero action and zero accountability.”

Regarding his fighting career, McGregor has hinted at a return after an injury sidelined him last June. He has stressed that he intends to return only for significant events held in large stadiums.

McGregor, who is now 36, last fought in 2021, where he suffered a loss to Dustin Poirier after breaking his leg. A planned bout with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June was called off due to a training injury.
