Whoopi Goldberg told her co-hosts on ABC’s “The View” Monday that the media is pushing “clickbait” coverage of college protests in the Israel-Hamas war.
Co-host Sunny Hostin said: “I think these are anti-war protests, but I think it’s concerning that they’re branding them as pro-Palestinian protests or pro-Israel protests.”
She added: “Never in my life or career have I ever equated criticizing government policy with anti-Semitism, which I think is the far right. It comes from the far right, and it comes from an authoritarian tendency that doesn’t want students on these campuses to voice their opinions because they want to change the narrative going forward. I think you have to be very careful. ”
“It’s one of our great rights as Americans to stand up and say, ‘Something is wrong,'” Goldberg said. No matter the color of your skin, whether you are a woman or a man, it doesn’t matter. ”
She further added, “And we have to teach the public how to be vigilant. Part of our problem is that the media picks up the best clickbait, which means the same posters and When you look at the same people, you don’t see people who are doing peaceful activities and saying, “This is what we want to do.” I would like to warn the media to be very careful about what they are doing and how they are dealing with this. Because what they seem to be doing is pushing a narrative that people are against, that students are against. It makes me very happy because I love it when students get angry and say, “I want things to change.” ”
