It seems like Long Islander Michael Nicosia is having quite the summer.
At 31 years old, he’s become a hot commodity in the dating scene, using a quirky twist on George Costanza’s famous line from “Seinfeld”: “I’m unemployed, and I live with my parents.”
“I’m serious when I say over 100 women wanted to date me in July alone,” Nicosia shared.
“And it’s all thanks to the worst year of my life.”
His dating life took a surprising turn after a popular social media page, Hot and Single, shared a video of him looking pretty good in a fitted white T-shirt, running his fingers through his hair. Suddenly, he was in demand.
“People don’t really seem to care about my job situation,” he confessed, acknowledging his return to living with his parents in Hicksville after being laid off from his finance job.
“It almost feels like I’m living George’s wildest fantasies,” Nicosia joked. He’s a big fan of the show and, he believes, has way more going for him in the looks department.
Unemployment Benefits
The attention he received seems to come primarily from his striking appearance and charming personality.
“This sounds like the man of my dreams,” one commenter exclaimed, joining the nearly 450 people who chimed in, with the post garnering over 2,000 likes.
Another couldn’t hold back, simply stating, “Mike is hot.”
A mother even suggested he should date her daughter.
Following this wave of interest, the dating app Cuffed Dating reached out for an interview to learn more about him and his quest for love.
“Then the DMs started pouring in, and they haven’t stopped,” he noted.
This all contrasts starkly with 2025, when Nicosia thought he had life figured out.
Having relocated to Dallas in 2021 for a job in investor relations, he was thriving.
He was fit, actively working out, and involved with what he believed was his true love, with thoughts of moving in together and settling down.
But then everything took a steep turn for the worse.
He fell down stairs while carrying groceries, injuring his foot and ankle, which kept him from the gym for months. This accident happened not long after losing his cherished pet, Rocky.
Things got worse when his girlfriend decided to break up with him, seeking a new direction. On top of that, he was laid off from Goldman Sachs.
“My life felt like a scene straight out of the biblical Book of Job,” he remarked.
By April, he was feeling quite lonely in Texas, and then his car broke down—just to add insult to injury.
“I didn’t have anyone close by, everyone was miles away,” he said, with the job search not going well at all.
Eventually, he had to make the humiliating trip back home in a rental car. His family welcomed him back warmly in late June, but they were heartbroken to see him start over under such unfortunate circumstances.
“My dad even offered to get me an apartment in the city to help me meet women,” Nicosia stated, reflecting on how tough it was to go through that phase alone.
However, what seemed like a low point soon turned into something unexpected. Nicosia took a leap of faith and contacted the social media page for a promotion.
“They responded right away, super enthusiastic to feature me,” he recalled.
Women nationwide began reaching out, captivated by the appealing guy who also creates food-related content under the name “Mikey Meatball Eats.”
“I live in California unfortunately – but you never know,” one admirer mentioned.
Another added, “I’m ready for you to introduce me to good food.”
Despite the high volume of requests in July, he still receives three to four new messages from interested women weekly as September rolls around.
“It’s such a boost for my confidence,” he laughed.
Overall, he’s been asked out around 150 times and has only gone on five dates, being quite selective. Additionally, he’s exploring opportunities for dating shows but can’t divulge much yet.
On the job front, he’s busy interviewing—things are definitely looking up.
“I won’t be single and unemployed forever. It feels like I’ll find the right person soon,” he concluded.
“I may have lost sight of the path I thought I’d take, but now, I get to carve out a new journey.”
