Mega Millions player wins $1.22B jackpot: Drawing, numbers, results

Big prizes for the holiday season.

A California Mega Millions player won an estimated $1.22 billion jackpot Friday night, ending the lottery's three-month drought without a grand prize winner.

The winning numbers were 3, 7, 37, 49, 55 and the gold mega ball was 6.

This super lucky ticket holder matched all six numbers and had a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of winning the grand prize.

This is the fifth time in 2024 that a Mega Millions ticket holder has won the jackpot. A jackpot winning ticket worth $800 million was sold on September 10th at the Murphy Express in Sugar Land, Texas.

The Texas Lottery announced in October that Sol Living Trust claimed the prize and opted to pay out cash worth $409.3 million.

The $1.22 billion prize is the fifth largest in Mega Millions history, surpassing the $1.12 billion drawn at the ShopRite in Neptune, New Jersey on March 26, 2024.

The winner of the sixth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history came forward and submitted his $1.128 billion ticket to begin the recovery process on Monday, nine months after the drawing.

The Monmouth County ShopRite sold the big winners matching Lotto numbers 7, 11, 22, 29, and 38, as well as Gold Mega Ball number 4 and Multiplier number 2.

New Jersey lottery law allows winners to remain publicly anonymous.

Friday's winner could be the last winner before the lottery game undergoes a “major overhaul” next spring.

Mega Millions announced in October that it would eliminate the $2 lottery ticket and raise the price to $5 per ticket. With the new costs, prizes are expected to be higher starting in April.
